Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Strata ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Strata provides an AI assistant for your website. It answers questions from the knowledge you load in, and it acts on the pages where you install the widget. Knowledge, conversations, and settings are scoped to a workspace.

3. Account and Workspace

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities under your account. You must provide accurate information when creating an organization or workspace. Knowledge, conversations, and settings are scoped to a workspace by the queries our application runs. There are no database-level access rules behind that scoping.

That scoping separates one workspace from another. It does not separate members inside a workspace. On the public chat route the member identity is not verified against the signed-in session, so a member's private documents and stored memory are not protected from other people who can reach that workspace. Do not treat per-member privacy as a control we provide today. The limits we know about are listed at Security.

4. Automated Actions

Strata does not only answer questions. On any page carrying the widget, the assistant acts on that page on a user's behalf: it clicks controls, fills form fields, changes quantities in a cart, and can move through multi-step flows including checkout and submission.

One limit belongs here rather than in the fine print. To answer a question about a page, the assistant is shown the current value of each field on it, shortened. Fields typed or named like a password, passcode, one-time code, or API key are stripped in the browser and never sent. Payment card numbers and government identity numbers are not on that list. Do not install the widget on pages where those are typed, even though the assistant can otherwise traverse checkout.

Where you put the widget is the only control you have here. There is no per-workspace off switch and no list of approved controls: on every page carrying the widget, the assistant can operate the controls it can see, including buttons, links, and form fields you never enumerated. Capabilities and page actions your administrators register add named actions on top of that reach. They do not narrow it. If you do not want the assistant acting on a page, do not put the widget on that page.

Actions the product classifies as irreversible, such as payment, checkout, submitting a form, or sending a message, are held for explicit user confirmation before they run. For controls on your pages, that classification reads their visible labels. For capabilities, it reads the name and the risk setting your administrators gave them. Treat it as a strong default rather than a guarantee for every control.

The assistant can make mistakes. Do not put the widget on flows where a wrong action would be unacceptable to you or to your users. Strata is not liable for actions a user confirmed, or for actions the assistant took on pages where you installed the widget.

5. Customer Obligations

If you embed Strata on your site, you are the controller of your own visitors' data. You are responsible for your privacy notice, including disclosing that an AI assistant is present and that it processes what visitors type and what your pages show it.

Do not deploy Strata on pages that collect health information, payment card details, government identity numbers, or biometric data. Our limits are described at Security. Read them before you decide where the widget goes.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms. You may not attempt to gain unauthorized access to other workspaces, interfere with the Service, or use the Service to transmit malware or harmful content.

7. Intellectual Property

Strata and its licensors retain all rights to the Service, including software, design, and branding. You retain rights to content you upload. By uploading content, you grant Strata a limited license to process and serve it within your workspace.

8. Data and Privacy

Our collection and use of data is described in our Privacy Policy. By using the Service, you consent to that policy.

9. Data Processing

Where Strata processes personal data on your behalf, it does so as a processor and you remain the controller. A draft data processing agreement exists. No lawyer has reviewed it, so it is not ready to sign and we will not present it as if it were. If you need one, write to lee.jungro@gmail.com and we will tell you where the review stands.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access or that the AI will always produce accurate results. You use the Service at your own risk.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Strata shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Any dispute arising out of these Terms or the Service will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Texas, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

13. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms and updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
